Job Title: Automation & Controls Designer / Project Lead for a huge opportunity supporting data centers

Job Description

This role offers an opportunity for a highly experienced automation and controls professional to lead the design, execution, and delivery of complex industrial automation projects across large-scale process, manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure environments. You will combine hands-on technical design with project leadership and client-facing responsibilities, guiding projects from initial concept development through commissioning and start-up. The position emphasizes high-quality engineering, cost-effective solutions, and strict adherence to safety and compliance requirements while mentoring junior team members and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of industrial automation and instrumentation projects with a strong focus on quality, cost-efficiency, and safety.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop robust control system architectures, including PLC, SCADA, and DCS-based solutions.
  • Lead or contribute to instrumentation and controls design for industrial, manufacturing, utility-based, energy-related, and heavy industrial facilities, including process plants, oil and gas operations, and data centers.
  • Develop detailed engineering documentation such as instrument specifications and data sheets, control logic diagrams, loop drawings, I/O lists, instrument indexes, and installation plans.
  • Perform system evaluations and studies, including troubleshooting existing control systems, supporting system upgrades and retrofits, and developing conceptual designs for new installations.
  • Support the sizing, specification, and selection of field instrumentation, including flow meters, analyzers, transmitters, control valves, and related devices, ensuring proper application of area classification requirements.

Top Skills required- 5+ years of strong experience

  • Control Panel design
  • Autocad Electrical (Revit experience is a plus)
  • Instrumentation and controls

Work Environment

You will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment focused on delivering high-impact automation and controls solutions for large, technically complex industrial projects. The role involves a mix of office-based design work and field-based activities, including site visits, commissioning, and construction support. You will regularly use instrumentation and controls design software tools, such as AutoCAD Electrical, along with platforms for PLC, SCADA, and DCS configuration and documentation. Project work spans the full lifecycle from concept development through start-up, providing exposure to diverse technologies and industrial processes.

This is a Contract position based out of Carrollton, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
