Design High-Impact Industrial Projects-From Anywhere in Illinois

This is an opportunity to join a well-established, nationally respected engineering firm where you'll work on complex, large-scale industrial projects-from chemical plants to food & beverage and pharmaceutical facilities.

You'll play a key role in delivering full electrical design packages, collaborating with experienced engineers, and gaining exposure to projects that make a real impact across critical industries-all while working remotely within Illinois.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Fully remote role (must live in Illinois)
  • Work on large, complex industrial projects across multiple sectors
  • Join a 70+ year established firm with strong national presence
  • Be part of a collaborative, highly technical design team
  • Opportunity to lead smaller projects and grow your scope
  • Exposure to cutting-edge tools (Revit MEP, Navisworks, Bluebeam)
  • Strong project pipeline across chemical, refining, F&B, pharma, and more

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be hands-on with electrical system design while collaborating closely with engineers and project teams:

  • Design power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems
  • Develop detailed drawings (plans, sections, isometrics) using Revit MEP
  • Create equipment layouts, conduit routing, grounding plans, and cable schedules
  • Generate wiring diagrams from electrical schematics
  • Partner with engineers and drafters to deliver complete construction packages
  • Manage project documentation, drawings, and CAD files
  • Support projects from concept through final deliverables
  • Interface with clients to clarify designs and support scope changes
  • Contribute to quality, consistency, and design standards across projects

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience using Revit MEP for electrical drafting/design
  • Strong background in electrical design within a consulting engineering environment
  • Proven ability to develop complete drawing packages and technical documentation
  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently in a remote setting
  • Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with engineers, teams, and clients

Nice to Have

  • Experience in heavy industrial environments (chemical, refinery, F&B, pharma, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Navisworks or laser scanning
  • Associate degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience)

Project & Team Environment

  • Support projects across industrial, chemical, agriculture, F&B, and pharmaceutical sectors
  • Highly collaborative team of engineers and designers
  • Minimal travel required
  • Backed by a nationwide AEC firm with 8 offices and 70+ years of success

Why Join This Team

You'll be part of a company that blends technical excellence with a supportive team environment, where your design work directly contributes to major industrial projects. This is a role where you can build expertise, gain project ownership, and grow within a stable, respected organization-all while maintaining remote flexibility.
