Position Summary

An Electrical Power Distribution Engineer focuses on the seamless transition from project design to active operation. During a project's startup phase, the engineer is responsible for commissioning all electrical distribution assets—including switchgear, transformers, busways, and protection systems—ensuring they meet design tolerances, safety codes, and performance specifications. Detailed test plans, systematic fault-finding, and documentation of commissioning results are core tasks that guarantee the facility's electrical architecture is correctly integrated and fully functional before the facility becomes operational. Once the facility is live, the engineer's role shifts to maintaining reliability and operational integrity. This involves proactive monitoring of voltage quality, load balancing, and redundancy, as well as scheduling preventive maintenance and rapid response to any anomalies.
