Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full-time Electrical Elevator Support Technician II, Newport News, VA.

Summary: This position will work closely with Ship's Force, Government, and contract personnel to provide electrical technical support for USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74). This position will include assessing and repairing all electrical aspects of shipboard elevators, dumbwaiters, and conveyors in both shop and shipboard environments. This position supports aircraft carrier elevator maintenance in Newport News, VA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support and assistance on electrical systems and components, supporting U.S. Navy shipboard weapons elevators, cargo elevators, and dumbwaiters.

  • Conducts research and provides drawings, technical manual information, design specifications, and engineering recommendations for condition assessment, corrective action, and preventative measures to prevent electrical equipment-related problems from recurring.

  • Assists with shipboard PMS accomplishment.

  • Uses a variety of precision measurement standards and instruments

  • Assists the ship's force with obtaining supply and repair parts information as required.

  • Provides technical assistance and support on complex machinery control system technical problems beyond the capability of the ship's force.

  • Provides direct communication to the ship's force representative that completely describes the electrical systems and component problem and solutions to correct.

  • Provides input and assists with process improvement procedures. assembles and installs equipment, using hand tools and power tools.

  • Performs the necessary out briefs to the ship's force representatives, including the ship's officers and supporting personnel, as well as briefs to management within the engineering department.

  • Understands and follows standard and specified safety procedures and operating.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum six plus years of direct experience working with the preventative/corrective maintenance and troubleshooting of shipboard weapons elevators, cargo elevators, and dumbwaiter systems

  • Ability to use drawings, prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to locate defective components and perform repairs. Work with published technical directives and equipment specifications that outline specific alignment and calibration procedures

  • Ability to attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly units, using hand tools and power tools as instructed, and other duties as assigned by their supervision

  • Knowledgeable of Navy tag-out, standard troubleshooting techniques, and Navy Quality assurance practices

  • Knowledge and experience in military terminology procedures

  • Knowledge of standard items, test procedures and test memos

  • Candidates without OSHA 10 certification will be required to obtain it within 10 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM)

  • Experience with quality assurance processes and procedures

  • OSHA 10 certification preferred; candidates without certification will be required to obtain it within 10 days of hire
