Job Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design and development of electrical systems and components for advanced heavy equipment platforms. This role will work closely with engineering project leads and cross-functional teams to design and model electrical harnesses, cables, sensor groups, schematics, and associated mounting components. The engineer will contribute to product development activities including 3D modeling, drafting, schematic updates, and design validation while collaborating with suppliers and internal engineering teams. This position offers an excellent opportunity for early-career engineers to gain hands-on experience in electrical system design within a collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Create 3D models and detailed drawings for electrical components and assemblies including wiring harnesses, cables, sensor groups, and mounting brackets
• Support the design and routing of electrical harnesses and cable systems using parametric 3D modeling software
• Create, modify, and maintain electrical schematics and engineering documentation
• Evaluate designs for cost effectiveness, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements
• Interpret engineering prints, specifications, and GD&T requirements to support accurate product development
• Collaborate with engineering teams and suppliers to resolve design issues and support product integration activities
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of design-related issues during development and validation phases
• Communicate technical information clearly with team members and stakeholders in a fast-paced engineering environment
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field
• 0–2 years of engineering experience; internships and co-op experience will be considered
• Proficiency with PTC Creo or other parametric 3D CAD modeling software such as SolidWorks or Inventor
• Experience with electrical system design related to automotive, industrial, or heavy equipment applications
• Mechanical print reading and drafting experience
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with wiring harness design, cable routing, or electrical schematics
• Familiarity with heavy equipment, automotive, or off-highway machine systems
• Hands-on experience operating or maintaining heavy equipment or industrial machinery
• Exposure to manufacturing processes, electrical component integration, or supplier collaboration
• Experience with engineering standards and technical documentation practices
Why This Role?
This position offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful engineering and electrical system design work supporting advanced machinery and equipment platforms. You will gain valuable experience working alongside experienced engineers on real-world product development projects while developing both technical and professional skills in a highly collaborative environment. Cullerton Group provides a professional environment with growth potential and strong partnerships with leading organizations in manufacturing and engineering.
