SUMMARY
 
This assignment is located in the OT Operational Services organization of the Information Technology division. This is a high availability environment of complex control center systems, including those that operate the regional power grid.  This assignment requires the exercise of engineering skills to evaluate existing systems of various technologies and support system upgrade and replacement projects from planning through implementation
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Under the guidance of the corporate manager:
    • Provide coordination of projects across Transmission Technology Services, including:
      • Drafting project scoping documents
      • Coordinating participation for assigned projects
      • Estimating labor and materials costs
      • Drafting project efforts and proposals
      • Providing reporting on project status and assignment completion
      • Schedule and meet timelines and milestones, providing timely status updates.
    • Identify project tasks and develop project schedule, and track task completion
    • Provide recommendations to planners regarding plans-of-service and replacement of aging assets
    • Provide recommendations to corporate management for controlling project scope and costs, maintaining schedules and identifying resource needs. 
    • Perform Project Engineering tasks including acting as liaison between O&M staff and Project Management staff
    • Review and evaluate proposed system designs
    • Draft hardware and process standards
    • Draft technical procedures
    • Develop test procedures
    • Document and analyze test results for recommendation to divisional management
    • Draft documentation for training purposes At the conclusion of projects, assist in providing training to division staff
 
Education & Corresponding Experience
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a directly-related engineering degree is required.
  • 5 years of experience and knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principals, and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system is required
 
 
Required Skills & Experience 
 
  • Working knowledge of Energy Management Systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (Microsoft Office 2010 proficiency required).
  • Perform effectively in a project team environment and effectively manage multiple work assignments and changing priorities
 
Preferred Skills & Experience 
 
  • Experience working in an Enterprise Data Center with 24/7 availability
  • Knowledge and experience listed below:
    • Experience working in enterprise-level IT systems pertaining to power utility;
    • Experience working in a control and operation of a complex real-time system;  
    • Experience in operating and maintaining a high availability environment;
    • Skill in implementing new systems in a make highly available control system;
    • Experience with process development;
    • Experience in complex projects with many requirements and divergent goals.  Experience with complex systems and network structures goals;
    • Experience with designing systems, network, and process standards;
    • Highly qualifying  practices dealing with project management;
    • Experience in utility sector enterprise IT;
    • Experience with the implementation of security programs in a high availability environment;
    • Experience working with government and power industry regulatory standards and how they are implemented;
    • Experience with and knowledge of industry best practices;
    • Knowledge of and skill in applying Data systems and control systems design, principles, practices, and concepts;
    • High availability operations and maintenance design, principles, and concepts;
    • Network, firewall, and IDS design, principles and concepts;
    • Configuration management concepts and practices;
    • Network topology concepts in a routing schema;
    • Firewall configuration, rule installation & troubleshooting, and access reporting concepts and practices; and Intrusion Detection System configuration, concepts, and practices;
    • Network operation and maintenance concepts and methods;
    • Network architecture principles and concepts; and Network management tools;
    • LAN and WAN development principles and methods Network architecture principles and concepts; and Network operation, performance, planning;
    • Federal regulatory standards into and on control systems;
    • Project management and coordination concepts and principles;
    • System configuration and maintenance scripts;
    • Cyber security patching, configuration, and risk mitigation
 
Additional Requirements:
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License is required
  • First Aid/AED/CPR Certification required within 30 days of assignment start
