Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESControls & System Design
- Design electrical control systems for custom automation equipment, including assembly, inspection, and testing systems
- Develop detailed schematics, panel layouts, and bills of material using EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or AutoCAD
- Integrate electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems into cohesive control solutions
Project Execution & Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability
- Support program timelines by delivering designs that align with project scope, cost, and schedule requirements
- Collaborate with Program Managers to provide status updates and resolve engineering challenges
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives
Manufacturing & Commissioning Support
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to develop assembly instructions, wiring standards, and quality procedures
- Provide technical support during machine build, debug, and startup phases
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement design modifications as needed
- Assist with system validation, testing, and customer acceptance activities
Continuous Improvement
- Maintain current knowledge of industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in automation and controls
- Contribute to standardization efforts, design libraries, and engineering documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability in design processes
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- 1-5 years of experience in electrical design within an industrial automation or manufacturing environment
- Experience designing systems for custom machinery, assembly lines, or test equipment
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with EPLAN (preferred), AutoCAD Electrical, or AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, including:
- PLC I/O and panel design
- Motor controls, safety circuits, and power distribution
- Pneumatic and hydraulic control integration
- Ability to perform electrical load calculations and system sizing
