This dynamic, fast‑track position reports to the Engineering Supervisor/Manager inside the service engineering group and is a highly technical, customer‑facing member of the service engineering team.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform a variety of engineering assignments involving technology applications for the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of solar inverters and battery storage technologies.Lead more complex field engineering assignments.Interact with customers to explain the technical scope of projects.Create and update field service procedures for troubleshooting and maintenance.Provide training to customers, vendors, and internal personnel as a virtual team member of the training center.Coordinate with R&D engineering in China for the generation of technical documents and training.Be responsible for technical issues of a certain region based on the job assignment.Prepare root‑cause reports for the customer.Track technical issues from customers/FST/PM on Airtable to visualize the process of the issues.Analyze failures for trends requiring proactive actions and provide reports on findings.Provide feedback to the R&D team on possible mechanical and electrical design improvements.Advise, provide training on, and lead employees on various safety‑related topics.Perform electrical and electronic troubleshooting and testing of solar inverters and their components in the field or laboratory; use of PQA and oscilloscope as needed.Troubleshoot solar plant issues such as battery issues, inverter faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients.Work with customer SCADA engineers to set up systems communication and parameters.Research alternative components that can be used in the field.Independently perform a range of field service tasks involving communication with Factory Engineering and the customer's solar plant engineer.Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, finance, and program management disciplines to maintain solar/BESS plants.Assist with repair activities in the service center.Prepare and submit field reports to customers and management.Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.Conduct site visits, experimental investigations, and analyze engineering problems; propose solutions, alternatives, and provide recommendations.Inspect working conditions to ensure all products and activities are compliant with safety guidelines.Participate in weekly calls with engineers from headquarters to review progress of issue resolution.Provide details for a monthly report.Leverage test equipment and hand tools as required.Demonstrate strong customer service, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and analytical skills.Exhibit effective written and verbal communication skills.Possess broad knowledge of electrical and construction site safety.Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Have basic knowledge of Electrical Safety Standards.Hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.Education or Desired License and Certificates4years of experience in power electronics related companies as a service engineer/application engineer/R&D/Product Management or similar positions, or 2years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or similar majors.Solar industry, battery industry, or power electronics experience is preferred.Strong technical problem‑solving/analytical skills.Self‑starter with strong initiative and excellent communication.System and product‑level mindset.Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and self‑motivated.Strong technical support focus and a service‑oriented profile, collaborating with sales teams and customers.Knowledge of Modbus protocol is desired.Mandarin Chinese proficiency is desired.Perform essential job functions using proper techniques, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling tools, equipment, and materials.Lift and carry items weighing up to 50pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.Engage in frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching during field assignments.Work in a variety of field environments, including confined spaces, uneven surfaces, and varying weather conditions.Follow all company safety policies and training requirements, including the use of PPE.Comprehend Job Hazard Analysis and conduct level‑appropriate JHA.Serve as an authorized person for LOTO.Travel50%Work Location and StatusContract role, hybrid role based out of the NY, MA, or NC areas.CompensationCompensation commensurate with experience.Competitive benefits package and employee programs.Strong personal and company growth opportunities.For candidates in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington, the anticipated annual base salary for this role is between $80,000 and $120,000.
