Electrical Engineer – BuildingsRichmond, VirginiaResponsibilitiesAs part of the Buildings team for Garver, this Electrical Engineer will assess existing facilities and develop electrical designs in support of various Buildings projects. Key responsibilities include:Investigating, planning, designing, and commissioning existing facilities components and systemsAnalyzing facility electrical, lighting, telecommunications, security, and fire alarm systemsCoordinating with other support disciplines and regional officesAssisting project managers in project managementFollowing quality assurance and quality control plansTraveling to project locations as requiredAbilities and AttributesAbility to communicate with and interact with building owner representatives and architectural clientsParticipate in client relations and project pursuitsKnowledge of building components and systemsKnowledge of electrical engineering and sustainability principlesUtilizing CAD and BIM design software to produce construction drawingsAbility to perform electrical related calculationsUtilize Microsoft Excel-based calculation tools for design calculationsManage multiple assignments concurrentlyBe responsible for time management and product qualityKeep accurate and up-to-date project accounting on all assigned projectsFollow Quality Assurance and Quality Control PlansBe responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as the overall needs of the teamRequirementsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering with an electrical focus from an ABET-accredited university of college.Registered Professional Engineer (PE)5 to 15 years of building design and construction industry experienceProven experience overseeing electrical designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projectsTechnically competent in building electrical systems including power distribution systems, lighting systems, and telecommunications systemsExperience with Autodesk RevitMust have strong communication skillsMust be proficient with MS Office SuitePreferred SkillsWorked as an engineer sub-consultant to architectural building design firmsEqual Employment OpportunityGarver is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees.
