HDR is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Charlotte or Raleigh. The candidate will serve a diverse client base including Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Science & Technology, Federal, Industrial, Mission Critical, and Commercial clients.The Electrical Engineer will lead a team, design projects from start to finish, coordinate with clients, project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders, and develop construction documents, specifications, calculations, and perform RFIs, shop drawing reviews, site investigations, and construction administration. Passion, self‑motivation, and strong leadership skills are required to deliver technically excellent design solutions.ResponsibilitiesProvide detailed designs and coordination of facilities with team membersPrepare construction documents with BIM/CADD platformsEdit and prepare design specificationsReview fee estimates, cost opinions, and write technical documentsPerform QA/QC review of construction documents and technical reportsSelect equipment using vendor software and communicate with sales representativesTrack and meet design budgetsAttend and lead design meetings with other team membersProvide construction administration service throughout all phases of constructionPreferred QualificationsExperience designing lighting and electrical systems for healthcare, laboratory, federal, water/wastewater, utility, mission critical, and commercial office facilitiesStrong communication skills, self‑motivated and organizedAbility to work both independently and with a project teamSome travel requiredBIM/Revit experience preferredLocal candidates preferredLI‑SM1Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasisPrevious experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., PE or P.Eng)Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI, and Easy PowerCommitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culturePrimary LocationUnited States – North Carolina – CharlotteOther LocationsRaleigh, North CarolinaScheduleFull‑timeEmployee StatusRegularJob PostingApr 27, 2026We are an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
