Our OpportunityWe are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer/Computer Scientist for our Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in New York, NY . In this role, you will work as part of a team to develop software, data, and engineering solutions for a diverse range of challenges faced by clients ranging from early-stage startups through to fortune 100 companies. You will be expected to combine computer science principles, data driven techniques, and a range of investigative analysis techniques with robust subject-specific scientific expertise, to implement high-value solutions to complex technical problems. You will have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise across an extremely wide cross-section of industry, and will interact with a variety of client contacts ranging from managers, engineers, legal staff, and business leaders. You will be expected to demonstrate continued professional growth, both in technical areas relevant to your expertise, and in business skills essential to providing effective consulting services.You will be responsible forPerforming engineering and computer science analyses related to ongoing Exponent workUsing deep expertise in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field to develop solutions to a wide array of challenging technical problemsPerforming a variety of numerical analysis, modeling, and simulation activities to support engineering goalsPerforming reliability and failure analysis related to electrical/electronic systems and components as well as to computer systems and associated networksPresenting technical results and solutions to a diverse audience through verbal, written, and interactive communicationPreparing technical proposals, pursuing business developments, and expanding the range of software-related services Exponent provides to clientsYou will have the following skills and qualificationsPh.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Physics or a related fieldAn understanding of investigative analysis for troubleshooting technical issues and solving technical challengesExperience with finite element analysis, numerical analysis, modeling, and/or simulation of devices, systems, and/or networksExperience with at least one common programming language such as Python, C/C++, Java, MATLAB, or similarExcellent written and verbal communications skills, and ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teamsAbility to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industryDesire to learn, and work with, a wide array of different programming languages, software frameworks, and toolsAbility to support multiple group projects and market the Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice and its consulting servicesApplicants are encouraged to submit a CV (Curriculum Vitae) with publications (feel free to include publications that are in review or pending) [not restricted to 1 page].Work EnvironmentAt Exponent, we have found that in-person interactions deepen employee engagement and are crucial for development, for realizing the full potential of our talented and diverse teams, and for building a more inclusive workplace where all have a sense of belonging. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent.
