Electrical Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and oversee electrical systems for commercial, industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, or construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring electrical systems are safe, efficient, code-compliant, and aligned with project requirements from concept through commissioning.

The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in electrical design, power distribution, controls, and system analysis, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical System Design & Engineering

  • Design electrical systems for commercial, industrial, infrastructure, energy, or construction projects

  • Develop electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation

  • Design power distribution, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems

  • Perform load calculations, short circuit studies, and coordination studies

  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and engineering standards

Engineering Analysis & Technical Review

  • Conduct electrical system analysis and performance evaluations

  • Review engineering designs for accuracy, safety, and constructability

  • Perform feasibility studies and technical assessments

  • Identify design improvements and value engineering opportunities

  • Resolve engineering issues throughout project lifecycles

Project Support & Construction Coordination

  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines

  • Support project execution from design through commissioning

  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change requests

  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify installation compliance

  • Provide technical support during construction and startup phases

Equipment & Systems Engineering

  • Specify electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and motor control centers

  • Support selection and procurement of electrical components

  • Evaluate vendor proposals and technical submittals

  • Ensure equipment performance meets project requirements

  • Coordinate integration of electrical systems with mechanical and control systems

Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NESC, OSHA, and local electrical codes

  • Support safety reviews and risk assessments

  • Verify adherence to quality standards and engineering best practices

  • Participate in inspections, testing, and commissioning activities

  • Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation

Project Planning & Documentation

  • Prepare engineering reports, calculations, and technical specifications

  • Support project schedules, budgets, and resource planning

  • Maintain project documentation and design records

  • Track project deliverables and engineering milestones

  • Ensure timely completion of engineering tasks

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with civil, mechanical, structural, and construction teams

  • Participate in client meetings and technical reviews

  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers

  • Support business development and proposal efforts when required

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution

  • 3+ years of electrical engineering experience

  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, distribution, and controls

  • Experience with electrical design software (AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar)

  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and applicable industry standards

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

  • Must currently reside in one of the approved locations listed above

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one

  • Experience in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, utilities, renewable energy, or infrastructure projects

  • Experience with medium-voltage and high-voltage systems

  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, and industrial automation systems

  • Experience with BIM/Revit-based design environments

  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability practices

  • Project management experience

  • Experience with commissioning and startup activities
