Description
Commissioning Electrical Engineer – Power Generation 12-month contract – Bowling Green, OH Dayshift 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM Tuesday – Tuesday 7 days on, 7 days off Starting at $56.00 p/hr+ per diem, expenses, etc. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vison, Paid Holidays, Accrued PTO and more.
Work Environment
Field-based role supporting active construction, commissioning, and startup environments
Follow all required safety protocols
Work in construction site conditions, including extreme temperatures, loud areas, and confined spaces
Lift up to 50 lbs and team-lift heavier loads
Stand, walk, climb, bend, and squat for extended periods
Work at elevated levels using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts with appropriate PPE
Use hand tools and diagnostic equipment
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology with a Professional Engineer license
4+ years of experience in electrical engineering, power systems, or commissioning in power generation, industrial, or related industries
Working knowledge of:
Electrical power systems and equipment (switchgear, transformers, generators)
Electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and control systems
Commissioning, testing, and startup processes
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or actively pursuing
Experience with power generation, data centers, or BESS systems
Experience supporting or leading commissioning and startup activities
Familiarity with FAT/SAT execution and turnover processes
Technical Skills
Proficiency with power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, MATLAB, or similar)
Experience with protection relay testing and electrical test equipment (e.g., Omicron, Doble, Megger)
Understanding of:
Protection coordination and arc flash analysis
Grid integration and energy storage systems
DCS/SCADA systems and electrical integration
Responsibilities
Provide electrical engineering support across commissioning, startup, and system turnover phases
Lead and support electrical commissioning activities, including testing, verification, and troubleshooting of:
Switchgear, transformers, generators, and associated systems
Protection relays and control systems
Validate power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash) and ensure alignment with as-built conditions prior to energization
