The successful candidate will join the Maintenance Operations team to support the Center Maintenance Operations and Engineering Contract CMOE located at NASA Langley Research Center. This position reports directly to the Maintenance and Reliability Engineer Manager. All work will be completed with a high level of quality professionalism and full adherence to all safety policies and procedures. Looking for an Electrical Engineer to support safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems across the center. This role focuses on improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and supporting maintenance teams with strong technical guidance.
Responsibilities
• Support maintenance and operations teams with troubleshooting and resolution of electrical power distribution, control, and instrumentation system issues in both normal and emergent conditions. • Analyze equipment failures and recurring issues, lead root cause analyses, and develop corrective and preventive actions to prevent repeat failures. • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for electrical assets, including motors, drives, switchgear, controls, and related systems. • Review, create, and update electrical job plans, maintenance procedures, and preventive maintenance tasks to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability. • Provide electrical engineering support for equipment repairs, system upgrades, and capital improvement projects from design through execution. • Identify equipment reliability risks and obsolescence concerns and recommend design changes, process improvements, or replacement strategies. • Support commissioning, testing, and turnover of new or modified electrical systems, ensuring systems meet design intent and operational requirements. • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and site safety requirements, including support of audits and inspections. • Collaborate closely with reliability, mechanical, and operations teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and support reliability-centered maintenance efforts. • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to maintenance personnel as needed.
Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. A BS degree in Electrical Engineering or in an appropriate discipline and two to five years of related engineering experience or an MS degree and one to three years of related engineering experience or a Ph.D. and zero to one year of experience from an accredited engineering school and a working knowledge of maintenance and reliability requirements for mechanical systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience in Microsoft Office applications are required.
