Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer II to join our engineering team. In this role, you’ll support the development and implementation of our evolving industrial control systems for our print and packaging equipment.
Working under the technical direction of the Principal Electrical Engineer and reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll assist in the integration, documentation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and controls. This is a hands-on role focused on execution and continuous improvement.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain and update PLC programs, electrical schematics, and documentation as systems evolve
  • Follow instruction on design and integration of machine automation, interface, and electrical systems based on product requirements and team input
  • Ensure systems meet relevant codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 79, CE, NRTL, UL, CSA, etc.)
  • Provide technical support to internal teams (production, service) and external customers
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in electrical systems; perform root cause analysis and implement effective, timely solutions
  • Manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
 
Qualifications:
  • 3–5 years of experience in industrial automation, electrical systems, or related fields
  • Experience developing PLC software applications in IEC61131-3 languages from the ground up
    • Structured Text, Ladder Logic, and Function Block Diagram.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Etc)
  • Familiarity with electrical CAD software
  • Solid understanding of electrical codes and industrial safety practices
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
 
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have):
  • Familiarity with PLCopen for motion control and structured programming best practices.
  • Exposure to multiple PLC vendors (Yaskawa preferred, Omron, Mitsubishi, IDEC, etc)
  • Competency with Bently Promise E software
  • HMI layout experience (e.g. Yaskawa, Red Lion, Maple Systems, smartPanel)
  • Experience using ERP and manipulating database entries
  • Exposure to production support and manufacturing environments.
  • Experience performing electrical safety testing (ground bond, hipot)
