Electrical Engineer II

Summary:

• Location: Houston, TX / Duluth, MN
• Duration: 12 months

Responsibilities:

• Provide electrical engineering expertise for compressor station facilities for expansion and maintenance capital projects executed by third-party engineering firms.
• Support electrical infrastructure and provide technical guidance with respect to electrical design codes, industry standards, and company standards and equipment specifications.
• Liaise with other functional groups within Project Execution, Transmission, and Shared Services to ensure project and company requirements are achieved and incorporated into the design deliverables.
• Support the development of the electrical project scope, schedule, capital cost estimate, execution planning, risks, and supporting information related to assigned facility projects during the project development phase.
• Ensure that all electrical facilities are designed in accordance with all regulations, applicable industry codes, and corporate standards.
• Support the execution of the electrical design deliverables by a third-party engineering firm against the project budget and schedule.
• Review and approve electrical design deliverables, such as drawings, technical reports, and material listing sheets.
• Review vendor materials quotations, evaluate technical bid evaluations, and recommend selections based on technical merit along with price and delivery. Collaborate with Supply Chain to procure material via internal tools.
• Provide technical support to the Construction team during construction phases.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the team or others based on technical expertise.
• Support and/or lead department initiatives as required.
• Ensure that development project scope definitions comply with all regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements through effective management and coordination of internal functional groups.
• Provide support and assistance to peers and more senior staff to facilitate business initiatives and legal compliance.

Requirements:

• Engineering degree.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience.

Preferred Skills:

• Professional Engineering designation.
• Ability to problem solve issues through the use of standards, modification of standards, and/or previous experience.
• Effective communication of technical issues and impacts to other technical and non-technical staff.

Working Conditions:

• 80% of work is office-based working with multiple project teams.
• 20% of time is in the field scoping projects or supporting construction and commissioning activities.
• Time-sensitive deliverables.
• Work requires strong computer skills typically using Microsoft Office applications.
