    Electrical Engineer III

    Reserve, LA (Headquarters) | Full-Time |

    About DSC

DSC Dredge is a world leader in portable cutter suction dredges — engineering and manufacturing equipment for aggregate mining and sand & gravel production, environmental remediation, coastal restoration, navigational maintenance, and marine construction across the U.S. and in more than 50 countries worldwide. We operate from our headquarters in Reserve, Louisiana and our manufacturing facility in Poplarville, Mississippi.

    The Role

DSC Dredge is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer III to lead the electrical and automation engineering scope for complex, custom dredge projects from initial design through commissioning. This senior role owns industrial power distribution, motor control, instrumentation, electrical schematics, equipment specification, and overall project execution, while leading the coordination of PLC, HMI, VFD, and industrial networking integration and mentoring junior engineers. You will work closely with Engineering, Production, and Sales to keep projects on schedule and ensure every system performs reliably in the field. This is a world-class dredge manufacturing business with immediate full-time openings, offering a competitive salary based on experience and an unmatched benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k) with match, and much more.

    What You Will Do

    • Own the electrical and automation engineering scope for complex, custom-build projects.
    • Direct the design of industrial power distribution, motor control, and instrumentation systems at the architecture level.
    • Develop electrical schematics and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical, and review the work of other engineers.
    • Oversee the design and troubleshooting of VFD and motor control systems.
    • Drive coordination of PLC, HMI, and industrial networking integration with the Automation Engineering team.
    • Head up specification of electrical equipment, instrumentation, drives, motors, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, and related components.
    • Guide coordination of engineering activities with mechanical engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and product support.
    • Chair customer design reviews and technical meetings.
    • Review customer specifications, vendor documentation, and engineering submittals.
    • Mentor junior engineers.
    • Spearhead the development of engineering standards and improvement of existing designs and processes.
    • Serve as field authority for factory testing, commissioning, startup, and field troubleshooting.

    What You Will Bring

    Required Qualifications

    • B.S. in Electrical Engineering
    • 5+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering, with demonstrated project leadership
    • Working knowledge of motor control and instrumentation; familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networking sufficient to coordinate effectively with Automation Engineering
    • Experience reading and developing electrical schematics
    • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable industrial electrical standards, leading interpretation and application for complex designs and reviewing others' work
    • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment
    • Commissioning experience with industrial equipment
    • Willingness to travel approximately 10% for field support

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with UL 508A industrial control panel design
    • Familiarity with medium-voltage power distribution (2.4 kV–15 kV)
    • Working knowledge of soft starters, power system protection, and industrial power distribution
    • AutoCAD Electrical proficiency
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or Engineer-in-Training on a PE track

    Why DSC

    • No two builds are the same — every project is engineered to a specific application, site, and operating environment, which means genuinely varied and technically demanding work
    • Immediate, visible impact — your designs are fabricated, tested, and commissioned on job sites across the U.S. and around the world
    • A business at record production levels — sustained demand means career stability and a pipeline of substantive work
    • Real engineering authority — senior engineers own their projects, not just execute decisions made elsewhere
    • Deep technical mentorship and decades of institutional knowledge — in a company small enough that your work is recognized and your contributions matter

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Base salary: commensurate with experience
    • Health, dental, vision insurance & short-term disability
    • Company-paid basic life insurance & long-term disability
    • 401k retirement plan with company match
    • Paid time off and company holidays
    • PE licensure support including examination fees, study resources, and continuing education
    • Relocation support available

    Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based, with regular time on the manufacturing floor and in testing environments. You’ll work alongside fabrication teams, operate comfortably around heavy equipment and industrial operations, and occasionally travel to vendor facilities, job sites, or customer locations. It’s a hands-on environment — and that’s part of what makes the work so compelling.

    Our Values

    Quality. Innovation. Service. Commitment. Customization.

These are the commitments that guide how we work and how we serve our customers by delivering on-spec, on time, with industry leading engineering precision.
