Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description

This Electrical Engineer role supports a large electric vehicle (EV) battery and energy storage manufacturing campus in Kokomo, Indiana, with a focus on infrastructure and facilities engineering. You will own and maintain the electrical infrastructure that powers multiple high-volume production buildings, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant. This position is critical to minimizing downtime, supporting clean room environments, and enabling continuous improvement across power, HVAC, cooling, compressed air, and other utility systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continuously improve the electrical infrastructure that keeps the entire manufacturing plant running safely and reliably.
  • Take ownership of power distribution and electrical infrastructure across multiple buildings on the campus.
  • Analyze electrical load demands, perform capacity planning, and design redundancy and failover systems to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Maintain, update, and accurately document single-line diagrams and electrical models for the facility.
  • Support utility systems including water systems, cooling systems, compressed air systems, boiler systems, nitrogen systems, and other chemical systems as needed.
  • Provide electrical engineering input on new designs for production lines, facility expansions, and utility upgrades.
  • Consistently perform energy audits and lead cost-reduction initiatives related to electrical and facility systems.
  • Collaborate directly with onsite journeymen electricians to implement maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Work effectively within Microsoft Excel to analyze data, track performance, and document engineering calculations.
  • Contribute to the reliable operation of clean room environments and building automation systems to support high-volume battery and energy storage production.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of electrical facilities or infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Strong experience in electrical engineering with experience in facility and infrastructure engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with high voltage power and medium voltage power systems.
  • HVAC system experience, including chillers and cooling systems.
  • Experience with cooling towers, closed-loop cooling systems, and dry room environments.
  • Experience with compressed air systems and pneumatics.
  • Experience with boiler systems and nitrogen systems.
  • Familiarity with water systems and other plant utility systems.
  • Experience with clean room environments in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for engineering analysis and documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Electrical facilities experience in medical, semiconductor, or battery manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working in large-scale manufacturing or gigafactory-style facilities.
  • Exposure to energy storage systems and battery-related infrastructure.
  • Ability to perform energy audits and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with journeymen electricians and cross-functional facilities teams.

Work Environment

This role is based on a multi-building gigafactory-style campus in Kokomo, Indiana, dedicated to EV battery and energy storage system production. You will spend approximately 30-40% of your time in an office setting working at a computer and 60-70% of your time on the plant floor and in utility areas working on facilities equipment. The primary buildings are air conditioned clean room environments designed to support high-volume, high-quality production. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch, offering a consistent daytime work pattern. The campus is designed for large-scale growth, with additional buildings and production capacity planned, providing diverse day-to-day responsibilities and exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies and building automation systems.
