Help shape and safeguard the Electrical Systems that support Honolulus communities.

The City and County of Honolulu is seeking experienced, licensed Electrical Engineers to perform complex professional work reviewing and approving electrical designs for the Citys infrastructure projects.

What You Will Do

  • Review electrical plans and specifications for design and code compliance.
  • Approve or reject plans and specifications requiring professional judgment and interpretation.
  • Conduct field and office studies of electrical systems.
  • Prepare and review complex contracts and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors and City staff.

Special Work Requirements

  • May be exposed to construction and traffic hazards during site visits.
  • May be required to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding or walk on uneven terrain.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Serve as a Disaster Response Worker during civil defense emergency.

Minimum Qualification Requirements At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelors degree in an engineering specialty.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Three years of non-registered professional electrical engineering experience.

APPLICABLE SKILLS NEEDED

  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code and its application to real-world projects.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:

  • Possession of an appropriate valid drivers license, as required.
  • Possession of a valid license as a professional Electrical Engineer in the State of Hawaii.
