Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Protection & Controls

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team, specializing in Protection & Controls for electrical substation projects. The role requires onsite work five days a week and involves occasional travel for site visits to substations within Indiana and Michigan.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and review relay protection and control activities for 4kV through 765KV electrical substation projects.
  • Prepare and review PC scopes for electric substation projects.
  • Prepare and/or review PC engineering settings and designs for electrical substation projects.
  • Prepare and review relay setting calculation sheets, setting files, and other relay setting deliverables for substation projects.
  • Conduct area protection studies and recommend settings for existing and new transmission line and station protection schemes.
  • Model transmission system impedances and perform short circuit fault studies.
  • Perform activities related to NERC PC standards, including preparation and review of PRC-023, FAC-008, and other NERC required documents.
  • Review, evaluate, and provide PC comments and recommendations on transmission system planning proposals.
  • Coordinate with transmission customers and interconnected companies on protection-related issues.
  • Provide engineering support for project installation, commissioning, checkout, and troubleshooting.
  • Offer general PC technical support, including interfacing with Telecomm Operations, Transmission Region Operations, Station Engineering, Transmission Planning, and Project Management.
  • Identify, clarify, resolve, and initiate solutions to protection and control problems through analysis of interruption reports and fault recorder records.
  • Contribute to the development of system-wide protection standards for transmission and distribution station protection, metering, and control applications.
  • Participate in project scheduling, resource planning, and cost control for assigned projects.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor"s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 2 or more years of related engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of protection and control systems, relay settings, and fault analysis.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. is an acceptable alternative for non-ABET accredited degree holders.
  • A Master"s or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering may be considered for entry.

Work Environment

The position is based in an office work environment with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. No overtime is expected. The role also includes occasional travel for site visits to substations within Indiana and Michigan.

This is a Contract position based out of Johnstown, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $45.00/hr.
