Position Overview: An Electrical Engineer researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
· Performs engineering work in designing and overseeing manufacture, construction, and installation of shipboard electrical systems including: power, lighting, interior communications, control systems, and electronics.
· Ensures designs meet regulatory standards related to electrical installations. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
· Designs and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
· Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial uses.
· Directs activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
· Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
· Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
· Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, environmental policy, and the principles of our quality system.
Qualifications:
2+ years OR 10+ years relevant industry experience OR equivalent
Skills and Abilities:
· Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university preferred.
· Must be familiar with CFR, USCG, NVIC, and IEEE rules that apply to various projects.
· Demonstrates good communication skills, including written and oral communication.
· Ability to use computer assisted engineering software and equipment in performing tasks.
