Electrical Engineer
Pay: $120,000–$160,000 per year
Location: Malta, NY
Employment Type: Full-time
 
Circuit boards don't design themselves, and neither do the products built around them. Our client is looking for an Electrical Engineer who wants real ownership over hardware — from the first prototype sketch all the way to the product that ships. This is a hands-on seat at a fast-growing, entrepreneurial company where your work on power electronics, PCB design, and hardware validation directly shapes what gets built.
 
This role is for someone technically sharp and execution-focused, who thrives on solving problems in a fast-paced environment and wants to see their fingerprints on the final product.
 
What You'd Own
Electrical Design & Product Development 
  • Design electrical circuits and PCBs for drivers, control systems, and power electronics
  • Build PCB layouts using Design products and CAD 
  • Develop early-phase R&D prototypes and proof-of-concept designs
  • Create, run, and document hardware validation plans
  • Support UL certification efforts on new product development
  • Drive ongoing product improvements through field analysis and root cause investigation
  • Design and build production test fixtures for PCBA validation at volume
  • Manage assigned projects end to end, keeping timelines on track and proactively flagging risks
Manufacturing Integration & Cross-Functional Work
  • Own BOM accuracy for your products, verifying components against design requirements
  • Validate incoming parts and assemblies against design specs
  • Manage and proactively qualify component alternates
  • Serve as the technical expert supporting internal SMT/PCBA processes
  • Investigate electrical field returns and internal defects, and drive corrective actions
  • Partner with manufacturing during first-run production builds
  • Establish electrical test methods and procedures
  • Provide technical guidance to sales and support teams as needed
Team Contribution 
  • Live the company's core values day to day
  • Contribute as a key member of the engineering team, fostering a culture of problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Mentor and guide junior engineering team members
 
 
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent demonstrated experience in power electronics design and PCB development
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing switching power supplies, LED drivers, or similar power electronics products
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout, or similar software
  • Strong lab skills — oscilloscope, bench power supply, DMM — and the ability to debug hardware at the circuit level independently
  • Experience working through UL certification 
  • Familiarity with EMC testing methodologies (conducted/radiated immunity, IEC 61000 series) is a plus
  • Embedded firmware experience (C, Python, or similar) is a plus
