Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description

This mid-level Electrical Engineer role focuses on the design, development, and analysis of electronic systems for utility room products. You will contribute throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept and design through testing, validation, and production support. The position combines hands-on circuit and PCB design, embedded firmware development, and documentation, while working closely with cross-functional teams to improve product quality and engineering processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and analyze analog and digital electronic systems for utility room products.
  • Perform engineering design evaluations to ensure functionality, reliability, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Process Engineering Change Requests and implement approved design changes accurately and on time.
  • Maintain and update firmware for existing products to improve performance, address issues, and support new features.
  • Recommend and implement alterations to designs and development processes to improve product quality and engineering efficiency.
  • Create and maintain clear and accurate work instructions and standard operating procedures related to electrical design and testing.
  • Conduct testing and validation of new and existing designs, including functional, performance, and compliance testing.
  • Analyze post-test data, identify issues or trends, and propose corrective actions or design improvements.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, layouts, test reports, and diagrams.
  • Develop PCB layouts and designs using CAD tools and ensure manufacturability and reliability of printed circuit boards.
  • Design test fixtures and hardware to support validation, verification, and production testing activities.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in engineering, testing, and production to support the full product lifecycle.
  • Work independently according to project requirements, manage assigned tasks, and take responsibility for project results.

Essential Skills

  • 3-5 years of experience in analog and digital circuit design.
  • 3-5 years of experience in microcontroller programming.
  • Experience developing embedded firmware in C and C++.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming.
  • Proficiency with PCB design software (such as OrCAD or similar tools).
  • Experience with PCB layout and design using any CAD software.
  • Experience in circuit design and schematic capture.
  • Experience in test fixture design and hardware development for printed circuit boards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
  • Strong attention to detail in design, documentation, and testing.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently according to project requirements and take responsibility for outcomes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience designing regulated products for standards such as UL, CE/ISO, or FDA is desirable.
  • Experience in EMI/EMC PCB design and testing is desirable.
  • Familiarity with the full product lifecycle, from concept through production, is beneficial.
  • Comfort working in both office and lab or production environments.
  • Ability to create clear and structured work instructions and standard operating procedures.

Work Environment

The role is based in a modern, updated facility with new offices and a quiet cubicle environment where the engineering team sits. You will work primarily in this office setting while also having regular exposure to the testing and production areas. This provides visibility into and involvement with the full product lifecycle, from design through manufacturing. The environment supports focused engineering work, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and hands-on interaction with hardware and test equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
