Electrical Engineer

Job SummaryJoin our team in New York City as we create electrical designs for our diverse client portfolio. You will lead a team of electrical engineers through project management and design efforts, designing electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, and special systems for schools, universities, healthcare, and institutional clients in a dynamic, fast‑paced setting.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesign electrical systems, including lighting, power, and life safety, for existing facility renovations, new facilities, and facility modernization projects.Conduct load sizing and service requirements for electrification projects.Lead electrical projects and perform QA/QC of design work.Oversee and provide guidance to junior engineers.Coordinate work with other disciplines.Qualifications and ExperienceMinimum of 5 years' design experience.Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.New York State Licensed Professional Engineer, preferred.Experience with K‑12, higher education, healthcare, and commercial markets in New York.Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office.Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines, including proficiency with the National Electrical Code.Excellent work ethic, attitude, communication, time‑management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Experience providing technical mentorship to less experienced engineers.Strong problem‑solving skills.LocationNew York City (550 7th Ave, 10th Floor, NewYork, NY10018, USA)CompensationThe expected base salary range for this role is $110,000 – $170,000USD per year, with additional performance‑based bonuses and a comprehensive U.S.‑based benefits package based on experience and qualifications.BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysWellness programs and employee assistance resourcesAbout UsFounded in 1975, Salas O'Brien is an employee‑owned engineering and professional services firm focused on achieving impact for our clients, our team, and the world.
