Electrical Engineer (Space Systems) - Seattle WA - June 2025

Our client, a specialized engineering firm in the Seattle area, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design and development of radiation-tolerant electronic systems for aerospace and space applications. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design, with a strong understanding of radiation effects and mitigation strategies in high-reliability electronics.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and develop radiation-tolerant analog, digital & mixed‑signal electronics for spaceborne systems (e.g. detectors, sensors, avionics).

    • Select and validate components rated or characterized for ionizing-radiation environments, with a focus on performance, reliability, and compliance for space missions.

    • Create detailed schematics and PCB layouts using industry tools (Altium, OrCAD, KiCad), with emphasis on radiation-hardened design practices (guard rings, layout isolation).

    • Collaborate across mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure fully integrated and mission-ready subsystems.

    • Perform simulations, design reviews, and tolerance analyses that incorporate radiation effects (e.g. total ionizing dose, single-event effects), ensuring robust and manufacturable designs.

    Qualifications

    • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (or related), with 3+ years' experience in circuit design.

    • Proven background in high-reliability, regulated, or space-grade electronics.

    • Deep understanding of analog/digital electronics, signal and power integrity, and noise mitigation.

    • Proficient with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium, OrCAD, etc.), especially for radiation-resistant designs.

    • Knowledge of radiation effects and mitigation strategies, including familiarity with EMC/EMI, environmental qualification like DO‑160, MIL‑STD, and ideally, radiation-specific qualification standards.
