Trak group is partnering with a growing manufacturing client seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to design, evaluate, and support electrical power distribution systems. This hands-on engineering role combines electrical design, equipment sizing, troubleshooting, manufacturing support, and customer-facing technical expertise to ensure products meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in power distribution equipment, electrical schematics, NEC standards, and engineering calculations, along with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and Field Service teams.
Responsibilities
Design and evaluate electrical power distribution systems to meet customer specifications and application requirements.
Select appropriate electrical products, components, and materials for system designs.
Review, interpret, and redline electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
Perform electrical engineering calculations and equipment sizing for wire, circuit breakers, disconnects, and wireways.
Troubleshoot electrical components and develop effective solutions to technical and customer issues.
Create, review, and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Review vendor cut sheets and technical specifications to verify materials meet form, fit, and function requirements.
Support system testing, customer testing, and witness testing activities.
Develop and improve manufacturing and assembly processes to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Partner with Quality to ensure compliance with ISO standards and established quality requirements.
Provide technical support to Sales, Customers, Warranty, and Field Service teams.
Ensure electrical designs comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable state and local regulations.
Maintain product databases and engineering information used by Engineering and Sales.
Support training initiatives for manufacturing personnel and field service technicians.
Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to resolve technical challenges.
Identify opportunities for product improvements, standardization, and continuous improvement.
Must-Haves
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
4+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution equipment and systems.
Experience designing, evaluating, or supporting electrical power distribution applications.
Ability to read, interpret, and modify electrical schematics and design documentation.
Experience performing electrical calculations and equipment sizing.
Knowledge of wire sizing, circuit breakers, disconnects, and electrical distribution components.
Familiarity with NEC requirements and applicable electrical codes.
Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Experience reviewing technical specifications and selecting electrical components.
Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work effectively within a manufacturing environment.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Customer-service mindset with the ability to provide technical guidance and support.
Preferred
Electrical CAD experience.
Experience with Autodesk Inventor.
Knowledge of PLC programming and industrial controls.
Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) interfaces.
Background working with emergency power systems.
Experience supporting electrical equipment testing and validation.
Experience developing BOMs and reviewing vendor specifications.
Advanced electrical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Experience improving manufacturing or assembly processes.
Leadership potential or interest in advancing into an engineering leadership role.
