The opportunity Hitachi Energy is seeking a motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join our Power Transformer Engineering team in South Boston, Virginia. This is an exciting chance to help shape the future of sustainable energy while working alongside a diverse, highly skilled global team.

How youll make an impact

  • Design electrical components and systems for power transformers serving the North American market.
  • Prepare customer documentation, manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Contribute to internal design reviews and collaborate closely across teams.
  • Apply market and sales strategies to develop transformer designs that meet customer needs.
  • Utilize 2D and 3D design tools to support engineering deliverables.
  • Share ideas openly and support an inclusive, collaborative team culture.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2-10 years of electrical design experience in power transformer manufacturing.
  • Strong theoretical and hands-on knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
  • Experience using AutoCAD; familiarity with 3D tools such as Creo is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to work independently when needed and collaborate effectively within a diverse team.
