Job Title: Electrical Engineer Supervisor

Location: Lockport, LA

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Electrical Engineer Supervisor with at least 4 years of ship design experience AND a bachelor’s degree in relevant field. In addition to Electrical Engineering work, the candidate will be responsible for the team’s daily workload and productivity. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 
  • Oversee daily workload of a team of Electrical Engineers and Electrical Designers. Allocate resources to various projects and tasks.
  • Review and approve work.
  • Ensures designs meet regulatory standards related to electrical installations. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • Serve as a mentor to new and young engineers and designers.
  • In addition to supervisory role, be able to work with the team to get a project or task accomplished. Performing engineering work in designing and overseeing manufacture, construction, and installation of shipboard electrical systems including: power, lighting, interior communications, control systems, and electronics.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, environmental policy, and the principles of our quality system.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in ship design.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Be proficient in decision-making and problem-solving. 

Skills and Abilities:

 
  • Have a solid technical understanding in Electrical Engineering and ship design.
  • Possess a detailed understanding of the progression of a project and how a team can be assigned to complete it. 
  • Able to supervise and delegate to a team of Electrical Engineers and Electrical Designers
  • Review team and project compliance with contract and regulatory. Must be familiar with CFR, USCG, NVIC, and IEEE rules that apply to various projects
  • Demonstrates good communication skills, including written and oral communication
