Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to contribute as a senior team member in providing the highest level of Engineering Advantage to our customers by improving designs for manufacturing, profitability, performance, quality, and customer requirements on existing and new products; to provide design support on existing products to all departments within the company; to provide evaluation of all ECNs and BOM revisions to drive customer satisfaction and contribute to sales growth. Create, implement and perform effective processes, utilizing knowledge and experience of products, standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out production sustaining engineering duties, redesign of existing products, and design of new products.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify, design, develop, and implement custom engineered solutions meeting or exceeding customer product specifications and all industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead project teams; research requirements, presents design options, and document results for project teams and engineering management.
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Act as consultant to less experienced engineers and other within the organization.
  • Communicate and behave in a professional manner that supports the mission, vision, and policies of the organization.
  • Mentor and direct the work of others.
  • Lead the design and implementation verification and validation programs to ensure designs are adequate for intended purpose.
  • Apply advanced engineering judgment to problem solving in both design work and in production issues .
  • Work within and lead the continuous improvement of the Company Management System with emphasis in the Advanced Product Quality Planning process.
  • Select and perform design calculations and directs engineering efforts on critical projects which includes: idea/ concept development, prototype evaluation, concept verification, and production design validation.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, suppliers and consultants.
  • Determine and create testing methods for products at different phases in the development and present analysis of findings. This may include setup and report writing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve product integrity issues with an appropriate sense of urgency and within required company timeframes. Supports VAVE and product transfers.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering design, documentation, and bill of material for products on both a domestic and global level.
  • Effectively utilize various CAD programs to create simple models and printed circuit board layout & schematic drawings for various components.
  • Keep area clean and organized in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and more than 5 years of related experience
  • Or Masters in Electrical Engineering and more than 5 years related Engineering experience.

Skills and Competencies

  • Advanced skills in software creation and documentation.
  • Proficient in the troubleshooting of hardware and software.
  • Proficient with hardware and software integration.
  • Able to independently perform circuit design.
  • Able to construct PCB layout.
  • Able to perform analogue and digital simulation.
  • Able to perform soldering and wiring.
  • Advanced skills in engineering techniques and technical writing.
  • Completes and constructs technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of engineering terms and standard engineering techniques.

Computers and Technology

  • Advanced embedded software (JAVA) design skills.
  • Advanced Visual Basic and C++ programming skills.
  • Intermediate command of communication protocols.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Ability to create and edit basic 3D CAD and 2D drawings.
