Job Overview We are currently seeking an efficient and innovative individual to join our Engineering team. This role will be responsible for developing, planning, and implementing electrical components, systems, and circuits; analyze and evaluate designs for performance, safety, agency compliance, and efficiency; and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring new products from concept to production within a manufacturing facility. An Electrical Engineer works with a team providing hands-on technical support to all existing products and manufacturing processes while adhering to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is analytical, logical, hands-on, a problem solver, and can meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.

Responsibilities

Engineering

  • Prevent engineering-related assembly line shutdowns by supporting production through BOM, drawing changes, and part and pump dispositions.
  • Provide factory audit support and agency certification testing requirements.
  • Support cost reduction efforts by responding to supplier issues and questions.
  • Drawings, BOMs, material specs, etc.
  • Investigate and remedy root cause of product, part, & customer escapes while implementing solutions to avoid future occurrences.
  • Participate in several medium projects of medium scope and complexity: design changes, BOM updates; needs minimal supervisor/manager support on projects.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to drive incremental improvements in existing products, manufacturing methods, and processes.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with shop floor personnel and electrical vendors.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to engineering team members.

Design and Analysis

  • Analyze and evaluate designs for performance, safety, obsolescence, and efficiency.
  • Conduct simulations and modelling to predict and optimize system behaviour.
  • Participate in new engineering development projects by assisting in design reviews and providing technical guidance assistance as required.
  • Create/improve product design data and implement product enhancements as required (3D models, 2D drawings, Bills of Material, etc.).
  • Verify designs through calculation, analysis, computer-aided modelling methods.
  • Redesign or reconfigure existing processes and standard work to increase productivity.

Product Development

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring new products from concept to production with minimal assistance from manager/supervisor.
  • Select materials, manufacturing processes, and components for product assembly.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Utilize engineering principles in the product development process.

Testing and Prototyping

  • Assist in development and conduct experiments and tests to validate designs and prototypes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues and challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for product and process improvements.
  • Implement cost-effective solutions to enhance performance.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records including design files, testing data, and reports.
  • Communicate project progress and findings through technical reports and presentations.
  • Prepare and maintain presentations/technical reports on assigned projects.

Training and Development

  • Participate in training programs to improve engineering skills and product knowledge.
  • Attend monthly EHS trainings.
  • Identify training needs, coordinate sessions as required, and maintain training documents.
  • Follow all policies and procedures (i.e., report on time and ready to work).

Quality Control

  • Support Quality and the company in resolving design and field issues by identifying root cause of component failure.
  • Participate in engineering and quality clinics meetings.

Safety Compliance

  • Assist EH&S department by identifying root cause investigations and implement engineering solutions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Ensure designs are safe and cost effective.
  • Follow all safety guidelines including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors promptly.

Cleanliness and Organization

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in engineering.
  • 3 years of experience in electrical engineering or industrial/commercial product manufacturing.
  • Experience in 3D CAD Modelling.
  • Experience in implementing cost reduction process.
  • Experience in implementing lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Experience with Microsoft computer programs.
