Overview: Electrical Engineer V
Seeking a senior-level contractor to lead the capacity expansion of an industrial electronics repair operation specializing in elevator drive and PCBA repairs. The contractor must possess expert-level experience in electronics troubleshooting, power electronics, distributed control system design, test system design, manufacturing process optimization, cell layout design, and operational transitions. Responsibilities include designing and commissioning new test equipment, validating repair processes, optimizing workflow, leading equipment migration activities, and increasing repair throughput. Experience with industrial drives, automated test systems, depot repair operations, and lean manufacturing is strongly preferred. This individual will serve as the technical lead responsible for designing, building, validating, and deploying new test systems; optimizing repair workflows; and improving overall costs and lead times for this core function.
Duties: Electrical Engineer V
Test Equipment Engineering
Design, build, and commission new electronic test equipment and repair fixtures.
Develop functional, diagnostic, and end-of-line test solutions for industrial electronic assemblies.
Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment documentation, and bills of material.
Develop validation protocols and acceptance criteria for deployed test systems.
Integrate instruments, data acquisition systems, power supplies, PLCs, and automation components as required.
Electronics Repair & Technical Leadership
Provide expert-level troubleshooting support for:
PCBAs
Power electronics
Variable frequency drives (VFDs)
Motor control systems
Industrial control electronics
Embedded electronic assemblies
Improve diagnostic methodologies and repair effectiveness.
Reduce repeat failures, no-fault-found occurrences, and repair cycle times.
Serve as the technical authority for repair processes and test methodologies.
Process Improvement & Facility Layout
Analyze existing workflows, material movement, workstation utilization, and throughput.
Design optimized facility and cell layouts utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
Improve production flow, technician productivity, and inventory management.
Establish standardized workstations, repair processes, and testing procedures.
Implement best practices for quality, safety, ergonomics, and operational efficiency.
Capacity Expansion
Develop and execute plans to increase repair capacity.
Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to increase throughput and operational flexibility.
Support staffing and operational ramp-up activities.
Preferred Qualifications: Electrical Engineer V
Experience supporting elevator, industrial automation, or transportation industry electronics repair
Experience with elevator electronics and drive systems.
Knowledge of variable frequency drives, motor controls, and industrial power systems.
Experience with:
National Instruments (NI) platforms
LabVIEW
PLC-based test systems
Automated Test Equipment
Industrial Electronics Repair
Experience working within repair depot, remanufacturing, or service operations environments.
Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering certifications.
