Position Overview
We are seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to support the design, analysis, and execution of engineering projects within the energy infrastructure sector. This role works under the guidance of senior engineers and contributes to projects across oil, gas, LNG, CNG, propane systems, and renewable energy facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering calculations, schematic designs, layouts, and technical reports
- Analyze maps, drawings, test results, and aerial imagery to support project planning
- Apply fundamental engineering principles to solve technical challenges
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support energy system development and operations
- Utilize engineering software for data analysis, calculations, and reporting
- Participate in client meetings, including occasional evening meetings
Electrical Engineering Responsibilities
- Specify and evaluate electrical equipment and process instrumentation
- Design lighting systems for industrial facilities
- Perform electrical studies, including load calculations, arc flash analysis, cathodic protection, and lightning protection
- Size and specify conductors for power distribution, control systems, and communication circuits
- Select and specify protective devices (e.g., fuses, circuit breakers)
- Develop technical deliverables, including:
- One-line diagrams
- Wiring diagrams
- Panel layouts and schematics
- Cable schedules
- Identify hazardous (classified) locations and apply appropriate design standards
- Support PLC-based system design and integration
- Develop P&IDs from Process Flow Diagrams
- Support progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
- 0–3 years of relevant experience
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency with engineering software and Microsoft Office tools
Work Environment
- Combination of office and field-based work
- Office work includes extended computer use and desk-based tasks
- Fieldwork may involve outdoor conditions and active construction sites
- Travel required (up to 90%)
- Occasional overtime and weekend work may be necessary
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
- Visual acuity including close vision, distance vision, and depth perception
