Location: Cincinnati, OH (Onsite)
Duration: 24 Months
Job Summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of advanced electronic systems for innovative medical devices. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in PCB/PCBA design, embedded electronics, analog and digital circuit design, debugging, and product development from concept through production. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable, and compliant products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop analog and digital electronic circuits for embedded systems.
  • Lead PCBA design activities, including concept generation, schematic capture, prototyping, testing, manufacturing support, and troubleshooting.
  • Create and review PCB layouts using Cadence and/or Altium.
  • Perform electrical design verification, debugging, and validation using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Develop embedded electrical designs and support system integration activities.
  • Analyze signal integrity and board-level PCB design issues to ensure robust product performance.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Firmware, Systems, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Support design verification, validation, design reviews, and engineering documentation.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for product quality, manufacturability, and reliability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an Electrical Engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • PCBA concept development, design, prototyping, manufacturing, and troubleshooting
    • Analog and digital circuit design
    • Embedded electrical systems
    • PCB design using Cadence and/or Altium
  • Experience debugging electrical systems using oscilloscopes and other electronic test equipment.
  • Strong understanding of PCB layout, board-level design, and signal integrity principles.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, technical leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional internal and external teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with rigid-flex and flex PCB design.
  • Experience integrating motors into electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of DC motor control (brushed, brushless, servo motors).
  • Experience with communication protocols such as Bluetooth, SPI, I2C, USB, UART, and USART.
  • PCB layout expertise using Cadence and/or Altium.
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design, ESD protection, electrically fast transients, and electrical immunity.
  • Experience with medical device standards including IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-2-2.
  • Experience with Design for Test (DFT), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Programming experience in C, C++, Python, or LabVIEW.
  • Experience with design controls and regulated product development.
  • Experience using engineering calculations, simulation, modeling, and laboratory testing to validate product designs.
