We specialize in electrical testing and commissioning, power transformers, switchgear and breakers, protective relays, substation construction & maintenance, plant maintenance, and engineering services.Examples of Electrical Engineer Intern Daily Activities:Assist with troubleshooting, gathering and analyzing dataParticipate in plant turnarounds/outagesSupport various project tasks including:Cable prep and terminationAC circuit verification, DC schematic verificationProtective relay testing and equipment isolationPerform electrical testing of major components of substationsPerform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data presentationSupport the preparation of reports for clientsPerform other related duties and responsibilities as necessaryPosition Specific Requirements:Enrolled at an accredited college or university majoring in an undergraduate Electrical Engineering degree program.Must have an overall grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale at all times throughout your time at Southern Power Systems. An official transcript will be required each term. Cumulative GPA on current institution transcript will be used in transfer college situations.Must have completed sophomore year prior to first assignment with Southern Power SystemsAbility to work full time (40 hours a week during normal business hours) May through August.
