Electrical Engineering Manager

Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team supporting complex life sciences facility projects throughout the Northeast region. This leadership role combines technical expertise, strategic planning, client engagement, and people management to drive successful project execution while fostering the professional growth of a talented engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a regional electrical engineering department consisting of approximately 20 engineers and designers supporting multiple projects in various stages of design and construction.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, and performance management to engineering staff while supporting career development and technical growth.
- Interface directly with clients to understand project objectives, scope, and deliverable requirements.
- Participate in feasibility studies, conceptual design efforts, and multidisciplinary project planning.
- Develop project staffing plans, resource forecasts, and engineering cost estimates for new opportunities.
- Coordinate department workload and staffing across multiple projects to ensure successful project execution.
- Lead department meetings to communicate business initiatives, project priorities, and resource planning.
- Collaborate closely with senior engineering leadership to align regional strategies, staffing needs, and project pursuits.
- Identify workforce planning needs and help address strategic technical and staffing challenges.
- Support multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project development and construction assistance phases.
- Promote engineering quality, innovation, and continuous process improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 15 years of electrical engineering and design experience.
- Extensive experience designing commercial or industrial building electrical systems.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and applicable building codes.
- Experience with:
- Medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems
- UPS and emergency generator systems
- Lighting system design
- Grounding systems
- Heat tracing systems
- Proven experience leading and managing engineering and design teams, including performance management and professional development.
- Experience collaborating on multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Experience working directly with clients to develop technical solutions.
- Experience preparing engineering staffing plans and project estimates.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience designing electrical systems for life sciences or pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
- Working knowledge of Revit.
- Experience collaborating with life science industry clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities.
