We actively cultivate a culture fueled by intellectual curiosity and diverse perspectives, where every team member is integral to delivering cutting‑edge solutions.Reports ToSr Department Manager & Program EngineerSupervisesEngineer III, Engineer II, Engineer I, Designers and DraftspersonsAuthorities / ResponsibilitiesResponsible for overseeing Department Goals for a specific project as directed by the Program Engineer and Sr Department MangerResponsible for preparing, overseeing and assigning design calculations and drawing development to support Program GoalsResponsible for checking calculationsResponsible for progressing all department workQualifications / Knowledge / ExperienceMinimum 7 plus years of design and/or construction experienceExcellent written and oral communication skillsUnderstanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlinesExperienced in interacting with Production, multiple design teams from several companies, customer representatives and equipment manufacturersComputer literate and familiar with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office productsThorough knowledge of ship and propulsion systemsStrong working knowledge of Maritime Regulatory Authorities (i.e. ABS, DNV, GL, NAVSEA, MIL, USCG, IMO, etc.)Electrical/Controls Engineer:Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering degree or minimum 10 years of equivalent marine design experienceThorough knowledge of power distribution and lighting systemsThorough knowledge of automation, control and communication systemsStrong working knowledge of IEEE and NECPreferred QualificationsExperienced in the construction of high‑speed aluminum vessels preferredDemonstrated knowledge of large modular construction methods preferredExperienced in design and construction of US Navy vessel preferredDemonstrated understanding of shock design preferredToolsComputer – MS Office, AutoCADDirection ExercisedWill manage and direct the work of Engineers Designers and DraftspersonsWill determine technical adequacy of drawings and calculationsDiscretion ExercisedAs directed by Sr. Department Manager and Program EngineerWill provide input to evaluations of Engineers Designers and DraftspersonsHas authority to direct, evaluate and correct the work of Engineers Designers and DraftspersonsLIAISES WITH: Engineers, Production Personnel, Customer, Regulatory Bodies, Program Management and Equipment SuppliersAdditional GuidelinesMust be able to obtain and maintain required Security Clearance.18 years of age or older at time of applicationAble to provide proof of US Person StatusNo felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition dateNo felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition dateWilling to submit to a drug screenWilling to submit to a background checkWork EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
