Clayton Services is searching for an Electrical Estimator / Inside Sales Representative to join a thriving company in Houston, Texas. The Electrical Estimator / Inside Sales Representative will be responsible for preparing customer estimates, reviewing technical project requirements, supporting sales activity, and helping move custom electrical control panel opportunities from quote to order.

Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay Rate: $70,000 - $90,000/year, plus bonus/commission opportunity

Electrical Estimator / Inside Sales Representative Responsibilities:
  • Review customer inquiries, project documents, electrical drawings, and technical specifications to determine quoting requirements
  • Prepare accurate estimates for custom control panels, industrial electrical assemblies, and related engineered solutions
  • Evaluate material needs, labor requirements, vendor pricing, lead times, and project scope before submitting quotes
  • Communicate with customers to gather missing information, confirm expectations, and clarify technical details
  • Partner with engineering, production, purchasing, project management, and sales teams to confirm pricing, feasibility, and delivery timelines
  • Create, revise, and submit professional customer quotes based on project requirements
  • Follow up on open estimates, track customer feedback, and help move qualified opportunities through the sales process
  • Maintain quote activity, customer notes, project updates, and opportunity details in the company CRM
  • Support outside sales efforts, repeat customers, and key accounts with estimating and technical sales assistance
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, product details, and availability
  • Identify scope concerns, cost changes, or technical issues that may impact pricing or project execution
  • Provide clear communication to internal teams once quoted projects become active orders
  • Assist with building long-term customer relationships through responsive service, accuracy, and consistent follow-up
Electrical Estimator / Inside Sales Representative Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong technical understanding of industrial electrical systems, control panels, and electrical components
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, drawings, specifications, and customer-provided project documents
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers, vendors, and internal departments
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing project requirements, preparing estimates, and documenting quote information
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates, customer requests, and project priorities at the same time
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines and customer needs
  • Strong follow-up skills with the ability to help convert quoted opportunities into booked projects
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to take ownership of assigned customer opportunities
  • Ability to identify potential scope gaps, pricing concerns, or production challenges before a project moves forward
  • Customer-focused mindset with a professional and solutions-oriented approach
Electrical Estimator / Inside Sales Representative Education and Experience:
  • Previous experience in electrical estimating, technical inside sales, project coordination, or a related industrial sales support role
  • Experience with control panels, motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, MCCs, automation panels, or industrial electrical equipment is preferred
  • Experience reviewing electrical drawings, schematics, RFQs, and technical specifications is preferred
  • Previous experience in a panel shop, electrical manufacturing environment, automation company, or industrial electrical contractor setting is a plus
  • CRM experience is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical training, electrical coursework, or an associate degree in a related field is a plus
