    Position Summary

    We have an opening for an Experienced Electrical Estimator to join our pre-construction team in the Kansas City, MO area. You'll play a critical role in the planning and execution of our projects by providing accurate, comprehensive cost estimates. Your expertise will support our project managers and clients by ensuring every aspect of project cost is meticulously evaluated and managed. This role requires a deep understanding of industry standards, construction practices, and market conditions to deliver precise, reliable estimates.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan & spec estimating: Develop detailed, accurate cost estimates by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project scope - covering labor, materials, equipment, and overhead using estimating software and tools.
    • Design-build & design-assist estimating: Build estimates from design narratives and basic floor plans; identify scope gaps, value alternatives, and pricing/escalation concerns.
    • Budgetary assistance: Provide early budgetary guidance to customers, including square-footage budgets based on historical data.
    • Project analysis: Review contracts, drawings, and project documentation to identify cost impacts and risks; recommend ways to mitigate financial risk.
    • Supplier & subcontractor coordination: Obtain and evaluate quotes, negotiate terms, and ensure bids align with project requirements and budget.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and team members to keep project requirements and cost implications clear.
    • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed cost breakdowns to senior management and clients; submit estimates on time and to company standards.
    • Market research: Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies that affect estimating and project execution.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an estimator in the electrical industry.
    • Demonstrated track record estimating complex projects with electrical packages of $5,000,000 and above.
    • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., McCormick) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong grasp of cost-estimation techniques, construction methods, and materials.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; able to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong organization and time management across multiple deadlines.

    Preferred

    • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, and/or Finance.
    • Experience with commercial and special systems projects.

    Work Environment

    • Primarily office-based in the Kansas City / Liberty, MO area, with occasional site visits as required.
    • Standard office hours, with occasional overtime during peak bid periods.
