JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an Electrical Field Engineer to support expansion and infrastructure improvement projects at the JFK Energy Center located at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Jamaica, NY. The JFK Energy Center is a cogeneration (combined heat and power) facility that provides critical electrical, heating, and cooling services to JFK Airport through a centralized energy generation and distribution system. The Electrical Field Engineer will support construction, installation, testing, checkout, and commissioning activities associated with the plant's electrical infrastructure and ongoing expansion efforts. Working within a heavily unionized construction environment, this individual will coordinate closely with the General Contractor, subcontractors, operations personnel, and project leadership to ensure work is executed safely, meets quality expectations, and is completed in accordance with project requirements.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

7-12 years of electrical construction, field engineering, utility, or power generation experience
Working familiarity with 15kV electrical systems
Experience supporting industrial or energy infrastructure projects
Ability to communicate with electrical contractors regarding installation, testing, checkout, and commissioning activities
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
Strong commitment to safety and quality
Experience coordinating field activities with contractors and project teams
Strong communication and problem-solving skills

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Exposure to 138kV electrical systems
Power plant experience
Cogeneration (CHP) or combined-cycle plant experience
Medium-voltage switchgear installation experience
Startup and commissioning experience
Previous experience working in a union environment
Substation or utility infrastructure experience
