Epcon is hiring an experienced Electrical Inspector for a 12-week project in Midkiff, Texas, in the heart of the Permian Basin.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect electrical installations for compliance with the NEC, project specifications, IFC drawings, and client standards
Verify installation of conduit, cable tray, wire and cable, grounding and bonding systems, lighting, and power distribution equipment
Inspect hazardous (classified) area installations, including seals, fittings, and explosion-proof equipment
Witness and document megger/insulation resistance, continuity, ground resistance, and loop checks
Review and track redlines, as-builts, and cable and termination schedules
Verify equipment setting and termination for MCCs, switchgear, transformers, VFDs, panels, and instrumentation interfaces
Identify non-conformances, issue punch list items, and follow them through to closeout
Complete daily inspection reports, test records, and turnover documentation accurately and on time
Coordinate with the contractor, construction manager, and client representatives on schedule, quality, and safety
Enforce site safety requirements, including LOTO and permit-to-work procedures, and stop work when unsafe conditions exist
Support mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and energization activities
Qualifications
Required
5+ years of electrical inspection experience on oil and gas, midstream, or industrial facility projects
Strong working knowledge of the NEC (NFPA 70), including Articles 500–505 for hazardous locations
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, schematics, cable schedules, and specifications
Experience witnessing electrical testing and documenting results
OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 preferred)
Valid driver's license and ability to pass drug screen and background check
Proficient with tablets, email, and electronic reporting tools
Preferred
Journeyman or Master Electrician license (Texas TDLR preferred)
NFPA 70E and arc flash awareness training
Experience on compressor stations, gas processing plants, or pump stations in the Permian Basin
Prior experience working directly for major midstream operators
Work environment
Outdoor West Texas field conditions, including heat, wind, and dust. Must be able to walk uneven terrain, climb ladders, stand for long periods, and wear required PPE.
