Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician I

Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts (including weekends and holidays)

Pay: Starting at $36.25/hr.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of a chemical manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, installing, and maintaining electrical and instrumentation systems that keep plant operations running efficiently.

The ideal candidate has hands-on industrial maintenance experience, strong electrical troubleshooting skills, and experience working with instrumentation, PLC-controlled equipment, and process systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical and instrumentation equipment throughout the plant.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant electrical and control systems.
  • Calibrate, repair, replace, and install process instrumentation including transmitters, switches, gauges, valves, and control devices.
  • Install, modify, and commission electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and industrial control systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, loop drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and other safety procedures.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and work orders accurately.
  • Support equipment upgrades, shutdowns, and plant improvement projects.
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to maximize equipment reliability and plant uptime.
Qualifications

Required
  • Associate degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation Technology, or related field OR
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on industrial electrical/instrumentation maintenance experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation maintenance experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation calibration and maintenance.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and P&IDs.
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment and calibration tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Preferred
  • Experience in chemical, manufacturing, refinery, pharmaceutical, pulp & paper, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell, etc.).
  • Experience with VFDs, MCCs, motor controls, and industrial electrical distribution.
  • Familiarity with DCS or SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation including:
    • Pressure transmitters
    • Flow meters
    • Temperature devices
    • Level instruments
    • Control valves
  • Experience with root cause analysis (RCA).
  • OSHA safety training and LOTO experience.
