Electrical & Instrumentation Field Commissioning Engineer

The primary function of this role is to successfully accomplish testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start up and troubleshooting of instrumentation and controls (I&C) systems across Gigafactory Nevada. Under supervision of the Commissioning Lead, you will perform loop checks, commissioning, start up and troubleshooting on various instruments related to industrial buildings. This includes but is not limited to instrumentation on hydronics, compressed air, wastewater, HVAC, chemical and life safety systems.

• Participation in construction completion walkdown and develop list of deficiencies to ensure a completed system is handed over to commissioning team
• Perform on site pre-commissioning, commissioning and trouble shooting activities on various plant assets. This includes configuration and calibration of instruments and control systems including sensors, transmitters, controllers, actuators etc, VFD's configuration, motor IDs, and networking
• Configure, and calibrate a variety of instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, transmitters, controllers, and actuators
• Perform loop checks and complete I&C commissioning checklists in the CMS system
• Work closely with external vendors and internal PLC programming team to ensure I&C logic for successful commissioning and start ups
• Support mechanical/electrical/process commissioning team during C&E and SOO testing
• Participate in commissioning completion walkdowns with facilities operations and maintenance teams
• Degree in Instrumentation & Controls, Industrial Automation, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in instrumentation and controls commissioning
• Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is highly desirable
• Ability to work in various environments, including construction sites, and perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods
• Ability to carry tools and equipment to site
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to comfortably wear and use all PPE including hard hats, boots, and other safety equipment
• Ability to climb stairs/ladders and work at height
