About Jerritt Canyon

The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.

The Opportunity

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Planner is responsible for developing detailed work plans for all electrical, instrumentation, control system, and automation maintenance activities across the mining operation. The role ensures maintenance work is planned safely, efficiently, and cost effectively to maximize equipment reliability and availability while minimizing downtime. Working closely with Maintenance Supervisors, Reliability Engineers, Operations personnel, and Procurement, the E&I Planner develops comprehensive job plans, coordinates required resources, and ensures all materials, tooling, documentation, and permits are available prior to scheduled work execution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed work plans for preventative, predictive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities.
  • Review maintenance work requests and convert approved work into executable maintenance plans.
  • Estimate labor hours, required trades, equipment, tooling, and contractor requirements.
  • Prepare job packages including work instructions, technical drawings, procedures, permits, isolation requirements, and safety documentation.
  • Ensure all required spare parts and materials are identified, ordered, and available before scheduled work.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Supervisors and Operations to develop weekly and shutdown maintenance schedules.
  • Prioritize work based on safety, operational risk, equipment criticality, and production requirements.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Engineering, and contractors to support planned work.
  • Monitor planning backlog and maintain an appropriate level of planned work ready for scheduling.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability and reducing maintenance costs.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and implement corrective maintenance strategies.
  • Review equipment history to improve future maintenance planning and identify recurring failures.
  • Recommend improvements to preventative maintenance programs and job plans.
  • Ensure all maintenance plans comply with company safety standards, legislative requirements, and mine site procedures.
  • Incorporate isolation, lockout tagout (LOTO), work permits and risk assessment requirements into work plans.
  • Promote safe work practices and support a proactive safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards, codes, and mining regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Create and maintain equipment bills of materials (BOMs), task lists, maintenance strategies, and standard job plans.
  • Monitor planning performance indicators including schedule compliance, planning accuracy, backlog management, and work order quality.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of maintenance planning processes and CMMS data integrity.

The above responsibilities are representative and may not include all assigned duties.

Education and Experience

  • Trade certification or associate degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical and/or instrumentation maintenance within mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, or a related industrial environment.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance planning or maintenance scheduling role is preferred.
  • Experience planning maintenance for fixed plant assets such as:
    • Conveyors
    • Crushers
    • Grinding mills
    • Pumps
    • Processing plants
    • HV/LV electrical distribution systems
    • Instrumentation and process control systems
    • PLCs, SCADA, and automation equipment
  • Experience using CMMS software such as SAP PM, Pronto, Oracle, Maximo, or similar maintenance systems.
  • Experience coordinating shutdowns and major maintenance activities is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation maintenance practices.
  • Working knowledge of preventative, predictive, and reliability centered maintenance principles.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, instrumentation drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • High level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic mining environment.
  • Understanding of mine site safety systems, risk management, and work permit processes.
