This role involves leading an experienced team of electrical instrumentation specialists at a fully integrated pulp and paper manufacturing facility in Selma, AL. Our state-of-the-art mill includes comprehensive process lines, and this leadership position plays a crucial role in ensuring the alignment and efficiency of maintenance operations in one operating area. The successful candidate will manage a dedicated team of around ten skilled technicians, working in tandem with mechanical teams to safeguard equipment reliability and operational excellence.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Inspire and direct the electrical/instrumentation team towards achieving high standards in safety, engagement, and equipment reliability.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and compliance mandates, while managing payroll, vacation schedules, and other administrative tasks.
- Drive employee development through regular one-on-one sessions, focusing on professional guidance and feedback.
- Recognize and cater to the training needs of the team, implementing tailored training programs.
- Work closely with operations staff to effectively prioritize and schedule maintenance activities.
- When necessary, coordinate resources across mill areas to optimize maintenance tasks on a facility-wide scale.
- Apply 5S principles to maintain an organized and efficient workplace.
- Proactively manage daily resources through strategic planning and scheduling.
- Address training requirements to offer learning opportunities to crew members.
- Respond to maintenance issues that occur outside regular shifts.
- Oversee the team’s time management, performance metrics, and administrative records.
- Facilitate clear communication with operations to ensure alignment on maintenance needs and activities.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment problems, fostering collaboration to implement effective solutions.
- Act as the liaison for external contractor engagements when necessary.
- Partner within the maintenance team to uphold strategic responsibilities in maintenance processes.
- Fulfill duties in harmony with our reliability programs, such as RCFA and Precision Maintenance.
- Possess and apply knowledge of PLCs, with experience in Allen Bradley and ABB drive systems as a bonus.
- Introduce enhancements and build new work systems to continue strengthening our achievements.
- Participate in the maintenance department’s weekend duty roster.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- 2 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing, with a focus on electrical maintenance and/or pulp and paper industry roles.
- Proven track record in supervisory roles.
- Experience working in a Pulp & Paper environment is essential.
- Proficient in leading multiple projects and managing teams.
- Familiarity with Microsoft and SAP PM tools.
- Demonstrates self-motivation and goal-oriented teamwork.
