Plains End is a 228 MW natural gas-fired power generation facility consisting of two reciprocating engine peaking plants. Plains End I began commercial operation in 2002 with 113 MW of generating capacity, followed by the 115 MW Plains End II in 2008. Together, the facilities provide flexible, reliable generation to help meet regional electricity demand, particularly during periods of peak energy use.
Opportunity Summary
The Electrical Maintenance Technician at Plains End plays an important role in ensuring the facility’s natural gas-fired reciprocating engine generating units remain safe, reliable, and ready for operation. This position performs advanced troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, and technical support for generators, switchyard equipment, control systems, and other plant electrical infrastructure. The Electrical Technician also contributes to outage activities and equipment improvements, shares technical expertise with plant personnel, and helps maintain high standards for safety and regulatory compliance.
As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will support plant operations through the following responsibilities:
NAES Safe

Working Relationships
The Electrical Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and works closely with plant leadership, contractors, and OEM representatives to support maintenance activities and plant operations.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.
Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
The Electrical Maintenance Technician works a rotating 12-hour shift schedule of 7 days on and 7 days off, rotating between day and night shifts. This position will require extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability as needed to support plant operations and business needs.
Compensation
This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $49.99 to $54.17 per hour, along with eligibility for an annual performance bonus.
