Electrical Maintenance Technician

This role focuses on troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems, VFDs, field instrumentation, and key mechanical equipment such as pumps and treatment skids. The position also supports basic PLC diagnostics, working closely with a remote Controls/Equipment Engineer for advanced troubleshooting and system improvements.\n \nThis is a field-oriented role requiring strong electrical troubleshooting skills, practical mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in an industrial environment.\n \nPrior to applying for this position, candidates should be aware of the following: \n\n This will be a short-term project due to last until November 2026\n This is a contracted position with access to medical, dental, and vision\n This position will be located in Hooks, Texas \n \nKey Responsibilities\n\n Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair 480V electrical systems, including motor control circuits and distribution components\n Diagnose and support variable frequency drives (VFDs), including parameter verification, fault analysis, and basic commissioning\n Install, wire, and commission field instrumentation, including:\n Flow meters\n Pressure transmitters\n Level sensors\n Analytical instruments (pH, conductivity, etc.)\n \n\n Perform loop checks, signal validation, and calibration of 4\u201320 mA devices\n Assist with PLC-based systems:\n Verify I/O signals\n Identify wiring vs. logic issues\n Perform basic troubleshooting under remote guidance\n \n\n Perform mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance, including:\n Diagnosing pump performance issues (loss of prime, cavitation, low flow, etc.)\n Inspecting and replacing pump components (seals, impellers, pump heads for dosing systems)\n Identifying blockages, valve issues, and piping restrictions\n Supporting skid-mounted equipment maintenance and repairs\n \n\n Read and interpret:\n Electrical schematics\n P&IDs\n Mechanical layouts\n \n\n Support startup, shutdown, and maintenance activities\n Maintain clear documentation of field changes and issues\n Coordinate with remote engineering support for advanced diagnostics and system updates\n \nRequired Qualifications\n\n 5+ years of experience in industrial electrical, mechanical, or controls work\n Strong working knowledge of 480V systems and motor controls\n Experience troubleshooting VFDs (any major brand)\n Mechanical troubleshooting experience with pumps and process equipment\n Familiarity with 4\u201320 mA instrumentation and signal loops\n Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and P&IDs\n Comfortable using a multimeter and basic mechanical tools\n Ability to work independently in a plant environment\n \nPreferred Qualifications\n\n Experience in water or wastewater treatment systems\n Experience with centrifugal pumps, dosing pumps, and skid-mounted systems\n Familiarity with PLC platforms such as:\n Siemens\n Allen-Bradley\n Schneider or similar\n \n\n Basic PLC troubleshooting experience (I/O checks, forcing, status monitoring)\n Experience with SCADA systems (Ignition is a plus)\n Knowledge of networking basics (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP)\n* Electrical license or technical certification\n \nEnergyX is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with EnergyX is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.\n\n
