How This Role is Unique
NTH is seeking an Electrical Power Systems Project Manager for a key position in our newly formed Electrical Engineering Power and Utilities Division. This position is intended to be based out of our Grand Rapids office, with potential for an experienced and independent candidate to work out of our Northville or Lansing offices.
This is an exciting seller-doer type role. The right candidate will have the opportunity to bid, manage, and execute engineering projects, and develop strong client relationships and repeat business. This position offers the opportunity to independently manage challenging projects, build client relationships, and help shape the future of a growing electrical engineering practice.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to help build NTH's Electrical Engineering Power and Utilities Division. The right candidate will not only help establish the Division's client base and reputation, but help develop its internal culture, standards, and operating procedures.

Required Qualifications
o Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year university. Study concentration in electric power, controls, or renewable energy preferred.
o Michigan P.E. License or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
o Ability and desire to manage projects and own outcomes.
o 7+ years of experience in electrical power, utility, renewable energy, industrial, or construction-related engineering fields.
o 3+ years of experience managing engineering or construction projects.
o Experience working directly with utility, municipal, industrial, or EPC clients.
o Experience preparing engineering proposals, fee estimates, schedules, or budgets.
o Experience with project financial management, forecasting, and invoicing.
o Ability to work independently and safely in utility, industrial, and construction environments.
o Ability to lead, review, and contribute to the development of electrical design deliverables including one-lines, schematics, grounding, equipment layouts, and engineering studies.
o Ability to read, understand, review, and provide technical direction for complex electrical drawings including one-lines, 3-lines, control schematics, grounding plans, and equipment layouts.
o Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to work in a team environment as well as independently, demonstrated team-oriented approach to problem-solving, and strong interpersonal skills for contact with clients and fellow engineers/technicians.
o Accuracy, dependability, and strong organizational skills.
o Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while coordinating engineering, design, and project execution activities.
o Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
o Perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.
o Must hold a valid driver's license and be willing to travel within the lower peninsula of Michigan.
Preferred Qualifications
o Field experience in electrical substations, electric distribution, power plants, renewable energy or industrial facilities.
o Experience with electrical substation or renewable energy projects.
o Experience with SEL protective relays.
o Experience modeling electrical systems in ETAP or similar software.
