The project engineer supports field leadership & project management in planning, coordinating, and executing electrical installations with a focus on maximizing productivity and eliminating rework. This role acts as a technical resource ensuring that all project documentation, drawings, and related information are accurate, clear, and delivered to the field well ahead of installation needs.
Duties:
  • Document Review & Clarification: Proactively review project plans, specifications, and related documents to identify missing, unclear, or conflicting information. Coordinate with designers, engineers, and project stakeholders to obtain timely resolutions.
  • Shop Drawings & Field Documentation: Produce high-quality shop drawings, installation details, and marked-up plans that provide field teams with clear, concise, and actionable information for efficient installation.
  • Submittal & RFI Coordination: Review submittals and RFIs from all trades to assess potential impacts on electrical installation requirements. Communicate relevant changes or conflicts to project managers and field leaders promptly.
  • Field Support & Planning: Ensure foremen and field supervisors have accurate, up-to-date information, including drawings, schedules, and coordination details, to support high productivity, effective planning, and minimal rework.
  • Cross-Trade Coordination: Monitor design and coordination updates from mechanical, structural, architectural, and other trades to protect electrical scope and sequencing.
  • Quality & Productivity Assurance: Maintain a forward-looking approach to identify risks before they impact operations and support continuous improvement in installation quality and efficiency.

Required:
  • Bachelor of science in electrical engineering or construction management.
  • 5 plus years of electrical construction, project engineering, or similar role in a contracting environment.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Understanding of commercial/industrial electrical systems in construction processes.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite, bluebeam, procore, and similar construction document repositories.
