Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, commissioning, and maintaining commercial solar photovoltaic systems. Solar service will be the primary focus of this position, with additional commercial electrical service work performed as needed. Previous solar experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong commercial electrical troubleshooting skills will be trained on solar equipment, monitoring platforms, testing procedures, and system operation.
Tasks / Duties / Responsibilities
Solar Service
Troubleshoot and repair commercial photovoltaic systems.
Diagnose issues involving modules, inverters, optimizers, rapid-shutdown equipment, combiner boxes, monitoring systems, DC wiring, and AC interconnections.
Perform inverter and component replacements, equipment configuration, and firmware updates.
Test system voltage, current, insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, and operating performance.
Troubleshoot Ethernet, Modbus, cellular, and other monitoring or communications systems.
Commission and recommission new and existing solar installations.
Perform preventative maintenance and inspect arrays, mounting systems, wiring, and electrical equipment for damage or defects.
Investigate system alarms, communication failures, outages, and production deficiencies.
Coordinate technical support, warranty claims, and replacement equipment with manufacturers.
Review drawings, one-line diagrams, test results, and commissioning documentation.
Recommend and complete corrective actions based on field findings.
Commercial Electrical Service
Troubleshoot, repair, install, and modify commercial electrical systems.
Service panels, switchboards, transformers, disconnects, breakers, lighting, receptacles, branch circuits, feeders, and control wiring.
Perform insulation-resistance testing, thermal imaging, voltage and current measurements, and other electrical evaluations.
