Sigmatech is seeking a motivated Electrical/Software Engineering Intern to support engineering and technical efforts across Department of Defense aviation, survivability, software, test equipment, and systems integration programs. The selected candidate will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting military aircraft systems, embedded software development, automated test systems, electronic integration activities, and prototype development within a fast-paced defense environment.
This internship provides hands-on exposure to real-world engineering projects involving military electronics, software development, avionics integration, automated test equipment (ATE), data analysis, and rapid prototyping initiatives supporting critical national defense programs.
Responsibilities:
Assist electrical and software engineers with design, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic and software systems
Support development of embedded software, scripts, utilities, or automated test applications
Participate in laboratory testing, hardware/software integration, and system verification activities
Assist with development of cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and electrical schematics
Support development and validation of automated test equipment (ATE) and test procedures
Assist with software debugging, data analysis, and technical documentation
Participate in design reviews and technical meetings with engineering teams and government stakeholders
Assist with additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping initiatives as applicable
Desired Qualifications:
Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering discipline
Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
Basic understanding of electrical systems, software development, and electronics fundamentals
Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Python, C/C++, C#, or Java preferred
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Skills:
Experience with scripting, software development, or hardware/software integration
Familiarity with oscilloscopes, multimeters, or electronic test equipment
Exposure to embedded systems, avionics systems, or automated test systems is a plus
Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar engineering software is a plus
